Supporting Minnesota’s Health Centers when Communities Need them Most

Minnesota’s Community Health Centers are trusted anchors in their communities.

For six decades, they have provided high-quality, compassionate care to patients regardless of income, insurance status, or background in 80+ neighborhoods across the State. These mission-driven organizations are nimble by design—adapting quickly to meet changing community needs.

Today, many Minnesota health centers are facing acute financial pressure driven by significant declines in patient visit volume. While the need for care remains high, fewer visits mean fewer resources—placing essential services, staffing, and access to care at immediate risk.

To meet this moment, the Minnesota Association of Community Health Centers (MNACHC) has launched the Rapid Response Fund (RRF).

Why an Emergency Response is Needed

Over several weeks, heightened fear and instability in Minnesota communities have sharply reduced patient visits to health centers, with some declines of up to 80%. Most health center revenue is tied directly to visits, translating into an immediate loss of operating revenue. Health centers report significant risk of failing to meet payroll, staff layoffs, reduced hours, and worsening patient health.

For an average health center, a 25 percent reduction in visits equals $180,000 in monthly revenue loss.

As Minnesota moves from emergency response to recovery, we know trusted, community-governed organizations like Minnesota Health Centers will be critical to help patients, families, and neighborhoods rebuild trust and heal. We also know this will take time.

Without rapid, flexible support during this next recovery phase, clinics may be forced to scale back services—precisely when communities need trusted care the most.

What is a Rapid Response Fund?

The Rapid Response Fund is a grassroots, community-supported emergency fund designed to provide immediate, unrestricted operational support to Minnesota health centers experiencing financial strain.

The fund is intentionally simple, flexible, and fast—so resources reach health centers when they need them most.

  • 100% of your donation goes directly to health centers. MNACHC does not withhold any administrative fees.

  • The Rapid Response Fund uses a transparent and equitable distribution model.

Each month, health centers experiencing operational strain may opt in to receive support and are eligible to receive an equal share of the funds raised that month to ensure immediate relief.

  • Unrestricted funding allows health centers to respond in real time to local needs. The Rapid Response Fund trusts health centers to direct resources where they will have the greatest impact—whether that means sustaining services, retaining staff, or stabilizing operations during periods of reduced patient visits.

This flexibility is critical in moments of uncertainty and disruption.

  • MNACHC is a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions are tax-deductible as allowed by law.
